An engineer, or likewise an engineering student, will not survive his craft if he has no calculator in hand. He or she is not capable of solving problems on mathematical applications without ever having computing it in a calculator unless solved by arithmetic sense.
By the way, this is my non-biological brother as an engineering student. I named him Duduy, for no apparent reason of identity. He has been a part of my life since first year college, since all of us in the College of Engineering were required to have a calculator for our engineering subjects. So I bought him, already born with a type fx-991ES PLUS, as prescribed by a teacher in my college.
I hope he does not leave until my last breathe, since I cannot afford another neither to lose one I already loved. My hands are already accustomed to pressing his buttons, and it would take me a lot of adjustments for him to be replaced by other calculators.
From short quizzes to the Civil Engineer's Board Exam, and until my professional career, his purpose will forever be cherished. He maybe a non-living thing but I consider him a loving brother. Don't get me wrong, I'm still sane.
